The summer is winding down and we are so grateful to have received so much help. We are hosting a BBQ/Pig Roast for all to come and see the progress. If you haven’t been here before this would be a fantastic opportunity to visit our site, see pictures, play games and just have some fellowship. We’ve worked really hard together all summer, let’s spend some time playing together!!! Bring a dish and outdoor games to share and plan on a picnic style meal. Hope to see you there.

During the week of July 9-12, MTC was pleased to host volunteers from The Summit in Aledo, Texas, Providence Reformed Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Altadena Valley Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama, and New City Fellowship in St. Louis. These volunteers continued the work of clearing out the basement and the window wells. Much progress was made, and we thank them for their hard work! If you were part of the teams from this week, please send photos or post them to the MTC group on Facebook. Thanks!

We were blessed to host a team which consisted of people from the corners of the country.  They represented three different churches:  Victory Christian Fellowship in Mexico, Missouri; Lakeview Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Rockport, Maine; and Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, Florida.  They worked hard all week (including the 4th of July) digging out the window wells, cleaning out the basement, painting and cutting racks apart. They all had such a good attitude, worked hard and worked well as a team. Stay tuned for pictures of the progress.

We were blessed to have teams join us from Miami, Florida and Lawrence, Kansas.  These youth began the arduous task of digging the dirt from the two window wells across the front of the building.  This will allow the us to open up those windows and let the natural light shine into the apartment and the new office space on the lower level.  You all worked hard!!!  It got really fun after it rained and the front yard became a slimy mud pit!!!

Thank you for your hard work and willingness to “dig for Jesus, because Jesus digs you”, Jim’s new phrase coined for all those working to dig out the window wells.

Digging for Jesus  Digging for Jesus  Digging for Jesus

We were blessed to have the assistance of four interns through Intervarsity for a few days this summer.  They were at MTC for three full days and during that time  helped with administrative tasks and worked in the basement with the cutting torch and clearing stuff out.

Thanks guys for being flexible and willing to do whatever we asked of you!!!

The week of June 3-June 9, Nate and Lexy George joined us for a local mission trip.  Even though the team was small, the progress was huge.  Nate worked all week painting the ceiling and some walls of the shop on the first floor and agreed to be our program developer and research analyst.  You may ask, what does that mean?  He will be developing our volunteer training materials and researching various things for us, such as the history of Wellston, etc.  Lexy agreed to be our volunteer coordinator and got right to work recruiting and organizing our volunteers.  Also, Lexy was our photographer for the week, which is why she isn’t in any of the pictures.

We wanted to brag about your team!!  You guys did an awesome job!!!  Your attitudes were excellent.  We were so impressed that you came to our site, got covered in dirt and were digging through trash and yet you still had a good time.  You proved that “fun is an attitude, not an action” after all.  Thank you so much for all your hard work.  Words can’t express our gratitude.  We can’t wait to see your pictures.  We’ll keep in touch about the ministry and keep you posted about the painting.   Jim and Tammy McGarry
